👋 GOOD MORNING - Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a good start.
I had to share an email I received from John S. yesterday, because I think it encapsulates the general sentiment toward the Arizona Cardinals right now. It’s short, sweet, and to the point — and was in response to my question about what the team should do to address its clear failures early this season.
John’s response?
“Hi Patrick,
Easy answer to your question. Bidwell should raise ticket prices again.
John.”
Fan frustration with the current state of the team continues to understandably build, and you’ve got to think sentiment won’t improve until someone, ANYONE, begins to hold people accountable.
On to the show!

Big 12 Football Power Rankings: Week 7

Graphic Credit: Noah Wulbrecht
Ladies and gentlemen, another Big 12 unbeaten has fallen.
No. 22 Iowa State’s 38-30 loss at Cincinnati knocked the Cyclones from the ranks of the unbeaten, and learned a similar lesson as the Sun Devils did last season: You can’t overlook the Bearcats, especially when you’re playing them on the road.
But, one school’s misfortune is another’s break, and Arizona State is the beneficiary of Iowa State’s misstep despite being idle last week.
There weren’t many surprises other than that, so let’s see how things stack up for Week 7:
Saturday, Oct. 11
UCF at Cincinnati (9 am, FS1)
Houston at Oklahoma State (9 am, TNT / HBO Max)
No. 22 Iowa State at Colorado (12:30 pm, ESPN)
TCU at Kansas State (12:30 pm, FOX)
Kansas at No. 9 Texas Tech (4:30 pm, FOX)
No. 18 BYU at Arizona (5 pm, ESPN2)
No. 21 Arizona State at Utah (7:15 pm, ESPN)
Big 12 Power Rankings, Week 7: Will Anyone Beat Tech?
1 - No. 11 Texas Tech (5-0, 2-0 Big 12): The Red Raiders silenced the doubters by thumping previously-unbeaten Houston while on the road. Their next big test comes on Oct. 18, right here in Tempe.
Last Week’s Result: W, 35-11 at Houston
Last Week’s Ranking: 1
2 - No. 21 Arizona State (4-1, 2-0): The Sun Devils had the week off to prepare for a trip to Salt Lake City, where the 4-1 Utes await. The road doesn’t get any easier next week, either, but any hopes of a repeat CFP appearance assuredly rest on a win in Utah this weekend.
Last Week’s Result: Idle
Last Week’s Ranking: 3
3 — No. 18 BYU (5-0, 2-0): The Cougars head to Tucson to face the Wildcats, and it will really be BYU’s first big test of the season. There’s really no win that stands out so far, having defeated Portland State, Stanford, East Carolina, Colorado and West Virginia.
Last Week’s Result: W, 38-24 vs. West Virginia
Last Week’s Ranking: 4
4 - No. 22 Iowa State (5-1, 2-1): Tough loss in Cincy, and the Cyclones’ decimated secondary was very evident early on. Two of their next three opponents are ranked in the AP Top 25 — Arizona State and BYU.
Last Week’s Result: L, 38-30 at Cincinnati
Last Week’s Ranking: 2
5 — Cincinnati (4-1, 2-0): Break up the Bearcats? Cincy raced out to a huge lead over Iowa State before hanging on at the end, and are now 2-0 in the conference with wins over Kansas and Iowa State. With just one ranked opponent remaining on a favorable schedule, could the Bearcats make a run to the Big 12 title / College Football Playoff?
Last Week’s Result: W, 38-30 vs. No. 14 Iowa State
Last Week’s Ranking: 9
6 — Utah (4-1, 1-1): Utah did not fare well in its first test against a ranked opponent this season, losing 34-10 at home against Texas Tech. The Utes get their second crack against a Top-25 foe in Salt Lake City this weekend, in a game they’re currently favored to win by five points.
Last Week’s Result: Idle
Last Week’s Ranking: 5
7 - TCU (4-1, 1-1): The Horned Frogs got back into the winner’s circle by outscoring the Buffaloes 21-7 in the fourth quarter. Can they keep it going against Kansas State in the Little Apple?
Last Week’s Result: W, 35-21 vs. Colorado
Last Week’s Ranking: 6
8 — Baylor (4-2, 2-1): Still not sold on the Bears, who struggled against an underwhelming Kansas State team at home on Saturday. Still, a win is a win, and Baylor looks to have a solid football team.
Last Week’s Result: W, 35-34 vs. Kansas State
Last Week’s Ranking: 7
9 — Houston (4-1, 1-1): Tough to penalize the Cougs after falling to Texas Tech, but I honestly thought they’d at least put up a little fight. Not so, though — Houston trailed the Red Raiders 15-3 after just one quarter.
Last Week’s Result: L, 35-11 vs. Texas Tech
Last Week’s Ranking: 8
Best of the Rest:
10 — Arizona (4-1, 1-1)
Last Week’s Result: W, 41-13 vs. Oklahoma State
Last Week’s Ranking: 11
11 — Kansas (4-2, 2-1 )
Last Week’s Result: W, 27-20 at UCF
Last Week’s Ranking: 12
12 — UCF (3-2, 0-2)
Last Week’s Result: L, 27-20 vs. Kansas
Last Week’s Ranking: 10
13 — Kansas State (2-4, 1-2)
Last Week’s Result: L, 35-34 at Baylor
Last Week’s Ranking: 13
14 — Colorado (2-4, 0-3)
Last Week’s Result: L, 35-21 at TCU
Last Week’s Ranking: 14
15 — West Virginia (2-4 0-3)
Last Week’s Result: L, 38-24 at No. 23 BYU
Last Week’s Ranking: 15
16 — Oklahoma State (1-4, 0-2)
Last Week’s Result: L, 41-13 at Arizona
Last Week’s Ranking: 16

No Changes Incoming: Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon confirmed to the media yesterday there would be no changes following Sunday’s embarrassing collapse against the Titans. This team has shown a crisis of identity early on in the season, and Alex D’Agostino has more on the state of the team.

Fantastic Fifita: Congrats to Arizona QB Noah Fifita, who was selected as the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week after throwing for 376 yards and five touchdowns in last Friday’s 41-13 win over Oklahoma State. Fifita is fourth all-time in passing yards and third all-time in passing touchdowns at Arizona, and is one of only two FBS quarterbacks who have thrown for five touchdowns multiple times this season. Congrats, Noah!

Green Light: Jalen Green’s arrival in The Valley couldn’t have come at a better time for both Green and the Suns, and Stephen Pridgeon-Garner broke down just how big of an impact he’ll have during his first year in the desert.
Rally With Us!
Best part about this is the exchange at the end.
Cam Skattebo is going to have a long career in the NFL.
